Yep, some clients will be pissed off and it’ll cost quite a bit. I understand the consequences are tough – hundreds of loyal colleagues in Russia (who I’m sure do not support these war crimes) may lose their jobs and livelihoods, there is a responsibility for those colleagues, and supporting them will come at a cost. No economic activity in Russia, full stop. Western companies need to wind down *all* work in Russia, immediately. The major brands (Nike, Apple, H&M, Spotify) are showing the way, professional service firms are not. It’s time to be on the right side of history. I suspect the people of Ukraine would disagree. They say these things as if they show support and solidarity with Ukraine. I could go on – but they’re all about the same. McKinsey bravely committed to no longer work with the Russian government (which they don’t currently do any work with anyway).PwC had the guts to put something on their website… but it doesn’t take much to deplore violation of international law.Ěccenture haven’t said anything official, the CEO barely managed a bland “we support peace” tweet. It’s been disheartening to see the pseudo-supportive posts from professional service firms on Ukraine, and employees of those firms rush to support them. I have plenty of friends in professional service firms, and I’d love to hear their thoughts.
